Beckett Sports Card Hot / Cold

[Beckett]

Welcome to another edition Beckett Sports Card Hot/Cold where there’s no fooling around as we take a quick look at what’s hot and what’s not in sports cards and sports.

This we gave us the monster known as 2020-21 Panini Prizm Basketball. With 2021 Topps Heritage Baseball and 2020-21 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey still fresh on collectors’ minds, there’s a lot of new product out there to chase.

Not surprisingly, rookies and color are what people are chasing in Prizm. But there’s also an 18th year LeBron James that is netting some serious attention.

It’s still very early and things will likely drop as more hit the market, but several of the first copies of LeBron’s base card have topped $150 and parallels are hitting four figures. It’s too soon to say where things will settle, but the card is reminiscent of James’ 2008-09 Topps Chrome card with the iconic chalk toss.

With baseball season here, rookies are already drawing some attention. Not in the 2021 Topps Series 1 base set, Ke’Bryan Hayes is starting to show up more frequently. The Opening Day hero has RCs in 2021 Heritage, Topps Inception and Donruss. Expect dozens more in the months ahead.

As the team resets, Red Sox fans are expecting big things from Bobby Dalbec. He is in 2021 Topps Series 1 along with several others. Dalbec is also among this week’s Topps Living Set cards.

This week’s Hot/Cold is brought to you by Dynasty Breaks.
