Who’s Got the Edge? ππ₯
Thursday Night Football is bringing some serious heat to Soldier Field!
We’ve got the Chicago Bears (4-2) hosting the New England Patriots (4-2) in a showdown featuring two of the NFL’s exciting young quarterbacks: Caleb Williams and Drake Maye.
Both teams are coming off wins. New England has won three straight, while Chicago just knocked off Atlanta 31-23.
But forget just looking at records. Around here, we’re studying matchups, injuries, possession time, turnovers and who’s actually getting the football!
Let’s get into it!
π» Bears vs. Patriots: The Numbers Tell a Story
| Category | Bears | Patriots |
|---|---|---|
| Record | 4-2 | 4-2 |
| Time of possession | 35:11 | 31:33 |
| Rushing yards/game | 160.7 | 130.7 |
| Passing yards/game | 227.7 | 243.5 |
| Passing yards allowed | 211.8 | 209.0 |
| Rushing yards allowed | 90.5 | 91.8 |
| Turnover differential | -4 | -5 |
BuckBully Take: Chicago controls the clock better and runs the football more effectively. New England has a slight advantage in passing production, while both defenses have been pretty stingy against the run.
Here’s the interesting part: neither team has been great in the turnover department. One careless interception or strip sack could decide this game!
Who’s Exploiting Who?
Chicago’s Ground Game vs. New England’s Defense
The Bears lead the NFL in rushing, averaging nearly 161 yards per game.
That’s impressive, especially when you consider the Patriots allow fewer than 92 rushing yards per game.
Something’s gotta give!
With Kyle Monangai sidelined, D’Andre Swift could see another heavy workload. We’re more interested in his rushing attempts than assuming he’ll run for 100 yards.
Our angle: Swift 12+ rushing attempts.
Caleb Williams vs. New England’s Secondary
Caleb is coming off a 305-yard passing performance against Atlanta.
Now he’s facing a Patriots secondary dealing with multiple cornerback injuries.
That’s the kind of matchup we like!
Luther Burden III has cleared 40 receiving yards in five of six games, while Colston Loveland is becoming a bigger part of Chicago’s passing attack.
Our angles: Caleb 175+ passing yards, Burden 40+ receiving yards and Loveland 25+ receiving yards.
Drake Maye vs. Chicago’s Defense
Maye has been playing better lately, but Chicago isn’t making life easy for opposing quarterbacks at Soldier Field.
The Bears have generated 17 sacks this season, and New England is dealing with injuries along its offensive line.
That could mean less time for deep shots and more quick passes to Hunter Henry and DeMario Douglas.
Douglas is coming off seven catches for 86 yards, while Henry has been a reliable option underneath.
Our angles: Henry 25+ receiving yards and Douglas 25+ receiving yards.
BuckBully Player Prop Confidence Ratings π
These ratings are our subjective matchup-confidence scores out of 10, not guaranteed hit probabilities.
| Player prop | Rating |
|---|---|
| Luther Burden III 40+ receiving yards | 9.0/10 |
| DeMario Douglas 25+ receiving yards | 8.9/10 |
| Caleb Williams 175+ passing yards | 8.8/10 |
| Hunter Henry 25+ receiving yards | 8.7/10 |
| D’Andre Swift 12+ rushing attempts | 8.6/10 |
| Colston Loveland 25+ receiving yards | 8.5/10 |
| A.J. Brown 50+ receiving yards | 8.3/10 |
| Drake Maye 175+ passing yards | 8.2/10 |
| Rome Odunze 30+ receiving yards | 8.1/10 |
| Caleb Williams 1+ passing TD | 8.0/10 |
Our favorite matchup? Luther Burden against New England’s banged-up secondary.
But keep an eye on Douglas. With Romeo Doubs sidelined, somebody has to pick up those targets!
Game Props: Where’s the Value?
The Bears enter as roughly 2.5-to-3-point favorites, with the game total hovering around 50 points.
Bears Moneyline β Lean: Chicago
Home field, possession control and New England’s offensive-line injuries give Chicago a slight advantage.
Bears -2.5 β Lean: Chicago
If the Bears can establish the run and protect Caleb, we like their chances of covering a short spread.
Under 50.5 Total Points β Slight Lean
Both defenses allow roughly 300 total yards per game, and Chicago’s clock control could limit total possessions.
But beware! Both quarterbacks can create explosive plays, and one defensive breakdown could send this game Over.
D’Andre Swift Anytime TD β Worth Watching
Swift has six rushing touchdowns this season. With Monangai out, his red-zone workload could make him a serious scoring threat.
Our BuckBully Parlay Picks π°
We’re not trying to squeeze every player into one ticket. Here’s how we’re approaching tonight.
π‘οΈ HEDGE β 3 Legs
- Caleb Williams 175+ passing yards

- D’Andre Swift 12+ rushing attempts
Three conservative alternate thresholds focused on opportunities and offensive involvement.
π₯ POWER PLAY β 4 Legs

- DeMario Douglas 25+ receiving yards
- Caleb Williams 175+ passing yards
- Hunter Henry 25+ receiving yards
This ticket attacks the receiving matchups on both sides.
π MVP β 5 Legs
- Bears moneyline
- Caleb Williams 200+ passing yards
- Luther Burden III 40+ receiving yards
- Colston Loveland 25+ receiving yards
- D’Andre Swift 12+ rushing attempts
This is our featured Bears-heavy ticket. We’re expecting Chicago to move the football, spread it around and control the game.
π° WILD CARD β 6 Legs
- Bears -5.5
- Caleb Williams 250+ passing yards
- Luther Burden III 60+ receiving yards
- DeMario Douglas 40+ receiving yards
- Hunter Henry 40+ receiving yards

Now we’re getting ambitious! This ticket needs Chicago’s passing attack to explode while New England’s receivers still produce.
Definitely a long shot.
Final Prediction: Bear Down! π»β¬οΈ
Chicago Bears 27 β New England Patriots 23
We’re expecting a competitive game, but Chicago’s ability to control possession, run the football and exploit New England’s secondary could be the difference.
Our projected game script:
- Caleb Williams throws for 220β270 yards.
- Drake Maye throws for 190β240 yards.
- Swift gets 15β19 rushing attempts.
- Burden becomes a major receiving target.
- Henry and Douglas provide New England’s short-passing production.
- Chicago wins the possession battle and pulls away late.
The biggest threats to our prediction? Turnovers, explosive plays from Maye and the possibility that Chicago struggles to finish long drives.
The BuckBully Bottom Line
Football is about more than picking the better team.
It’s about matchups, patterns, streaks, injuries and finding the players positioned to take advantage.
We’re rolling with the Bears tonight, but our favorite prop opportunities come from both sidelines.
And remember, even a great-looking matchup doesn’t mean a guaranteed winning ticket. The actual odds determine whether a pick offers value, and adding more legs makes a parlay harder to hit.
