October is opening with an interesting setup across both Wall Street and digital assets. Stocks are hovering near record territory, Bitcoin has reclaimed the $86,000 area, Ethereum has finally pushed out of its recent trading range, and artificial-intelligence stocks are again providing much of the market’s horsepower.

But this isn’t a simple risk-on rally.

Treasury yields recently reached levels not seen in roughly 24 years before pulling back, economic growth remains under the microscope, and several high-growth stocks are carrying expensive valuations. Meanwhile, crypto’s sharp rebound has produced another familiar phenomenon: traders who positioned too aggressively for more downside are getting squeezed as prices move higher.

The result is a market where momentum is improving—but selectivity matters.

MARKET CHECK: STOCKS REFUSE TO BREAK

The S&P 500 closed Thursday at 7,666.45, up 0.2%, while the Nasdaq Composite finished at 26,871.60. The Dow ended at 50,926.56. The headline gains were small, but the intraday action was more revealing: the S&P had fallen roughly 0.5% before recovering.

Friday brought another catalyst. The September employment report showed only 29,000 jobs added, substantially below August’s 133,000. Stocks responded positively as investors reduced expectations for another Federal Reserve rate increase. The S&P 500 advanced about 0.9% and the Nasdaq about 1.4% in the move reported Friday.

That may sound backward—weak employment and rising stocks—but markets trade expectations.

If slower employment growth reduces inflation pressure and keeps the Fed from becoming more aggressive, growth stocks can benefit from lower expected interest rates.

The chart signal

The broader stock market remains bullish, but the internal picture deserves attention.

The S&P 500 sits relatively close to its recent high while technology continues to carry substantial weight. Thursday was particularly unusual: the index finished positive even though 10 of its 11 sectors declined, illustrating just how concentrated leadership can become.

That’s both bullish and a warning.

The market has repeatedly absorbed bad news and recovered—but investors should watch whether participation begins broadening beyond AI and mega-cap technology.

SURPRISE MOVE #1: MICRON PUTS AI BACK IN THE DRIVER’S SEAT

One of this week’s biggest statements came from Micron Technology (MU).

Micron reported fiscal Q4 adjusted earnings of $33.42 per share, versus $3.03 a year earlier, while revenue surged to $54.23 billion. Tight DRAM and NAND supply, higher pricing and enormous AI-driven data-center demand helped produce the jump.

Data-center SSD revenue approached $10 billion.

That’s significant because the AI investment story is moving beyond GPUs.

The next phase includes:

GPU → memory → networking → storage → data centers → power infrastructure.

Companies positioned throughout that chain may benefit even if individual AI leaders periodically become expensive.

BUCKBULLY VIEW: MU — BUY / ACCUMULATE

Micron’s earnings growth makes the fundamental case difficult to ignore. The danger is chasing vertical moves after earnings.

Strategy: Accumulate on meaningful pullbacks rather than buying every breakout candle.

NVIDIA: STILL THE AI KING, BUT EXPECT VOLATILITY

Nvidia remains at the center of AI infrastructure spending.

The stock closed Thursday around $230.86, and Morgan Stanley reinstated Nvidia as its top semiconductor pick Friday. Nvidia’s latest business outlook has also pointed to continued extraordinary AI spending, with the company previously forecasting roughly 70% sales growth for the following year.

The company also expanded its stock-repurchase authorization by another $150 billion.

BUCKBULLY VIEW: NVDA — BUY / HOLD

For existing long-term investors, the AI infrastructure thesis remains intact.

For new money, patience matters.

Instead of chasing green days, consider building positions in stages.

Growth potential: High
Volatility: High
Primary risk: AI capital spending eventually slows faster than investors expect.

BROADCOM: THE QUIETER AI GIANT

Broadcom may be one of the more interesting second-layer AI plays.

AVGO closed Thursday around $343.64, well below its 52-week high of $495, while its AI exposure continues expanding.

But there’s a new twist.

Broadcom is reportedly involved with a massive financing package supporting Anthropic’s AI infrastructure expansion. That potentially strengthens future AI demand while introducing additional customer concentration and financing risk.

BUCKBULLY VIEW: AVGO — BUY ON WEAKNESS

Broadcom gives investors exposure to custom AI chips, networking and infrastructure without simply duplicating Nvidia.

The current pullback makes AVGO particularly interesting for a long-term growth watchlist.

PALANTIR: GREAT COMPANY, DIFFICULT PRICE

Palantir continues producing numbers that would normally make a growth investor excited.

Trailing revenue is around $6.16 billion, up roughly 79%, while net income has expanded dramatically.

The problem is valuation.

At roughly $190 entering Friday, PLTR was trading around 163 times trailing earnings and roughly 100 times forward earnings.

That doesn’t mean Palantir can’t rise further. It means investors are already paying for enormous future success.

BUCKBULLY VIEW: PLTR — HOLD / WAIT FOR PULLBACK

Existing investors have a strong growth story.

New investors should recognize the difference between:

A great company
and
a great entry price.

They aren’t always the same thing.

CRYPTO WAKES UP

The crypto market may be producing the most interesting chart action.

Bitcoin opened Friday around $84,850 before climbing above $86,400, while Ethereum moved from approximately $2,706 to $2,747 during the morning.

Bitcoin has gained roughly 9.6% over the past month, while Ethereum has advanced about 11.9%.

The broader crypto market was also up roughly 2.9% over 24 hours as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, Cardano and Dogecoin participated in the rally.

But the most important development isn’t the daily percentage gain.

It’s the change in market structure.

BITCOIN: $86,000 BECOMES THE BATTLEGROUND

Bitcoin has moved back above $86,000 after spending much of the year repairing damage from its decline.

The previous all-time high was approximately $126,198 in October 2025, meaning BTC remains substantially below its former peak despite the recent rally.

That creates an unusual setup.

Bitcoin isn’t cheap compared with historical cycles—but it also isn’t trading at euphoric new highs.

Short liquidations, falling Treasury yields, renewed ETF flows and institutional optimism have helped accelerate the rebound.

BUCKBULLY VIEW: BTC — BUY / HOLD

For long-term crypto exposure, Bitcoin remains the core asset.

Rather than trying to predict every $2,000 swing, investors could treat pullbacks as accumulation opportunities while monitoring whether BTC can establish sustained support above the mid-$80,000 range.

A decisive failure of the recent breakout would weaken the short-term setup.

ETHEREUM: THE CATCH-UP TRADE

Ethereum may offer more upside—and more risk.

ETH finally broke above the roughly $2,600 range that had contained it since late September.

Ethereum also remains about 45% below its 2025 all-time high of $4,953.73.

That makes ETH an interesting recovery trade.

Bitcoin has stronger institutional recognition. Ethereum arguably has greater catch-up potential if investors rotate deeper into crypto.

BUCKBULLY VIEW: ETH — BUY / ACCUMULATE

Bitcoin remains the safer core holding.

Ethereum may provide greater percentage upside if the crypto recovery expands.

That combination makes BTC + ETH a cleaner long-term strategy than chasing dozens of smaller tokens.

SOLANA: HIGHER RISK, HIGHER BETA

Solana remains one of the more interesting large-cap alternatives.

SOL recently traded around the $118 area, and the ecosystem continues attracting trading and application activity. New derivatives products could also expand access to Solana exposure.

BUCKBULLY VIEW: SOL — SPECULATIVE BUY / HOLD

SOL belongs in the aggressive portion of a crypto portfolio—not the foundation.

Think:

BTC = core
ETH = growth core
SOL = aggressive growth

COINBASE: A LEVERAGED BET ON CRYPTO ACTIVITY

Coinbase offers a different way to participate.

Instead of owning another cryptocurrency, investors gain exposure to the infrastructure surrounding crypto trading, custody and financial services.

COIN closed Thursday around $189 and traded near $194 premarket Friday as Bitcoin rallied.

The upside is straightforward:

If crypto prices, trading activity and institutional adoption grow, Coinbase can benefit.

The downside is equally clear:

COIN frequently behaves like leveraged crypto exposure and can fall significantly faster than Bitcoin during risk-off periods.

BUCKBULLY VIEW: COIN — SPECULATIVE BUY

Best suited for investors who already understand crypto volatility.

THE X + WEBULL SURPRISE

Another potentially important development isn’t a chart breakout at all.

Webull announced a strategic partnership with X on October 2 that will make Webull a Cashtag Partner for stocks and crypto. The idea is to connect X’s real-time financial discussions and market sentiment with Webull’s investing technology.

This is worth watching.

Social media already influences markets.

Meme stocks proved it.

Crypto proved it.

Now the gap between seeing a financial conversation and acting on it continues shrinking.

That could increase retail participation—but it could also amplify momentum chasing, misinformation and emotional trading.

SOUTH KOREA SENDS A CRYPTO WARNING

Not every crypto signal is bullish.

South Korea’s crypto market reportedly contracted sharply during the first half of 2026, with KoFIU data indicating a roughly 33% decline in the market.

That is a useful reminder.

Crypto adoption doesn’t move upward in a straight line.

Periods of excitement are often followed by declining activity, consolidation and investor fatigue. Those quieter periods can eventually create opportunities—but they also expose projects that survived mainly on speculation.

WHAT WOULD I SELL?

The strongest sell candidates aren’t necessarily major companies or cryptocurrencies.

They’re weak assets being carried upward by a strong market.

This is the stage where investors should examine portfolios for companies with deteriorating revenue, excessive debt, fading narratives or valuations unsupported by earnings—as well as cryptocurrencies with declining developers, liquidity and real-world usage.

A bull market can temporarily hide bad investments.

When liquidity disappears, fundamentals matter again.

THE BIG PICTURE

Three catalysts are currently colliding:

AI earnings remain powerful. Crypto momentum has returned. Economic weakness may reduce pressure for higher interest rates.

That’s a potentially bullish combination.

But there’s a fourth variable investors shouldn’t ignore:

valuation.

Buying growth and buying growth at any price are two different strategies.

The strongest approach entering October may therefore be neither blindly bullish nor aggressively bearish.

It is selectively bullish.

Own companies generating real AI revenue.

Favor cryptocurrencies with deep liquidity and established ecosystems.

Keep cash available for volatility.

And remember that the best growth investment isn’t always the asset moving fastest today.

Sometimes it’s the one you still want to own after the next correction shakes everyone else out.

BuckBully Bottom Line: The market is giving bulls new reasons to stay interested, but this isn’t the time to abandon discipline. AI remains the strongest structural growth story in stocks, while Bitcoin and Ethereum are showing renewed technical momentum. Investors willing to think beyond today’s candle may find the bigger opportunity in accumulating quality during volatility rather than chasing whatever happens to be trending.
