Can the Rams Keep Josh Allen From Stealing the Show?

Monday Night Football brings us Bills versus Rams—and this matchup has more going on than two big-name quarterbacks trading highlights.

Buffalo knows how to put points on the board. Los Angeles knows how to move the football and make opponents work for every yard. The question is simple: Who turns those advantages into touchdowns?

Let’s crack open the numbers.

Buffalo brings the points. Los Angeles brings the brakes.

Through four games, the Bills average 31.8 points, compared with 21.2 for the Rams. But flip over to defense, and Los Angeles allows 20.8 points per game, while Buffalo gives up 26.8.

Buffalo also converts 53.3% of third downs. The Rams allow opponents to convert just 33.3%.

Something has to give. Can Josh Allen keep extending drives, or will the Rams finally make Buffalo hand over the keys?

The Rams are piling up yards. Where are the points?

Los Angeles averages 417 yards of offense, ahead of Buffalo’s 386.2. Yet the Bills score considerably more.

That’s like filling your shopping cart with collectibles and forgetting to check out. Moving the ball looks great, but the scoreboard only accepts completed transactions.

My read: the Rams have enough offense to win. They need to finish the job once they reach scoring territory.

Puka and Davante could make Buffalo’s night uncomfortable.

Buffalo has allowed 256.2 passing yards per game and 10 passing touchdowns through four games. That puts Puka Nacua and Davante Adams right in

the spotlight.

The Bills are also missing slot corner Dee Alford and defensive lineman Ed Oliver. My expectation: Los Angeles tests those replacements early, using its receivers to stretch coverage and its running game to keep Buffalo guessing.

Allen might have to bring his own escape route.

The Rams allow only 145.5 passing yards per game, making this a tough assignment even before Buffalo’s injuries enter the conversation.

With DJ Moore and Joshua Palmer inactive, Allen has fewer receiving options. That makes his legs especially interesting. When the pocket gets crowded, a scramble can turn a busted play into a first down—and occasionally something much bigger.

Watch the clock—and protect the football.

Average possession: Rams 31:18, Bills 28:06. Turnover differential: Rams −5, Bills −2.

My takeaway: Los Angeles has the better setup to control the pace, but giveaways could erase that advantage fast. Keeping Allen on the sideline helps. Handing him a short field definitely doesn’t.

The BuckBully ticket board

Here’s how I’m organizing the suggested plays. These are alternate-line targets, with availability and payouts depending on the sportsbook.

TicketSuggested plays
🛡️ Hedge — 4 legsStafford 200+ passing yards; Puka 4+ catches; Adams 40+ receiving yards; Allen 15+ rushing yards
⚡ Power Play — 5 legsStafford 225+ passing yards; Puka 5+ catches; Adams 50+ receiving yards; Allen 25+ rushing yards; Kyren Williams 40+ rushing yards
🏆 MVP — 6 legsRams moneyline; Stafford 225+ passing yards; Puka 60+ receiving yards; Adams 50+ receiving yards; Allen 25+ rushing yards; James Cook 50+ rushing yards
🃏 Wild Card — 7 legsRams −3.5; Stafford 250+ passing yards; Puka 80+ receiving yards; Adams 60+ receiving yards; Allen 40+ rushing yards; Kyren anytime touchdown; Puka anytime touchdown

“Hedge” is the lower-threshold ticket’s name, not guaranteed protection. These tickets share players, so one quiet performance can knock out several. The Wild Card needs a whole lot to go right.

My call: Rams 28, Bills 24.

That’s my matchup-based projection. Los Angeles gets the edge because of its defense and receiving options, but Allen gives Buffalo a chance until the final whistle.

The matchup I like most? Rams receivers against Buffalo’s secondary.

The thing that could wreck the whole script? Los Angeles giving the football away.

Bring the popcorn. Keep an eye on third downs. And remember: a beautiful drive means nothing if it ends with the other team holding the ball.
