TIME FOR THE 2027 SUPER BOWL SHUFFLE?
Chicago might have assembled the scariest complete roster in football. A dangerous quarterback, physical offensive line, punishing running game, championship-tested coaching and a defense capable of taking over games.
Are the Chicago Bears building something that could end with another Lombardi Trophy?
It’s Time to Talk Super Bowl β Not Just Playoffs
Some teams look good on paper. Others can win when the game gets ugly. This Bears team is showing signs of both.
We’re watching a roster built to attack opponents in multiple ways. Caleb Williams can deliver explosive throws downfield, but Chicago doesn’t have to rely exclusively on his arm. The running game can finish drives, the offensive line helps establish physicality, and the defense has game-changing playmakers.
In our opinion, this is one of the most intimidating rosters in the NFL. Calling them the best is still a debate β but overlooking them as a championship contender is becoming harder every week.
After beating Philadelphia’s defending champions in 2025, Ben Johnson has now guided Chicago to another statement victory against the reigning champion Seahawks in 2026. That is a pattern worth noticing, even though two games alone cannot predict postseason success.

The Five Starts That Explain Chicago’s Season
Williams has started five games through Week 8, finishing four with a 4β0 record. His only loss came against Minnesota, where he departed with a hamstring injury. Use the game selector to examine the performances.

Caleb’s explosive opening performance showed that Chicago could overwhelm opponents with a multifaceted offense.
Ice Man Caleb: Consistency Without the Chaos
Look at the passing production across the four complete games. All four ended in victories, and he threw no interceptions in any of them.
That is 1,129 passing yards, six passing touchdowns and zero interceptions across four full-game victories.
The major change isn’t simply that Caleb can rescue a game late. It’s that Chicago can play from ahead without abandoning its offensive identity. When opponents must respect both his arm and the run, Ben Johnson can attack weaknesses rather than chase the scoreboard.
Seattle: The Night Chicago Looked Like a Champion
November 2, 2026. On the road. Monday Night Football. Against the defending Super Bowl champions.
Chicago didn’t merely survive Seattle β it controlled large portions of the game, answered a dangerous rally and finished with a 17-point victory.
Possession Battle
Chicago gained 126 rushing yards and ran 70 offensive plays to Seattle’s 56. The Bears also limited Seattle to one conversion in 11 third-down attempts.
Jeffery Simmons contributed an immediate interior presence, while the defense pressured Sam Darnold and created opportunities. Chicago intercepted Darnold once and lost one fumble of its own, so the official turnover margin was even β not a turnover-differential victory.
D’Andre Swift scored three rushing touchdowns, illustrating the advantage of a quarterback who can move the offense and a running game that finishes in the red zone.

Caleb’s ability to create outside structure, deliver difficult throws and protect the football gives Chicago an unusually high offensive ceiling.
Protection and physical line play give Ben Johnson access to both a vertical passing game and sustained rushing drives.
Swift and the rushing attack can help dictate pace, create short-yardage answers and protect fourth-quarter leads.
Simmons, Montez Sweat and the front-line rotation can disrupt pockets and make opposing quarterbacks uncomfortable.
Pressure, coverage and tipped passes can flip possessions. A positive turnover margin remains a key championship goal.
Johnson’s adaptable offense and Dennis Allen’s defense give Chicago multiple ways to respond to playoff matchups.
Why Time of Possession and Takeaways Matter
Chicago’s Seattle performance provides a perfect example of how to take control of a dangerous opponent. More than ten extra minutes of possession meant fewer opportunities for Seattle’s offense to create explosive plays.
The playoff formula: control the trenches, limit giveaways, force difficult third downs, score touchdowns instead of field goals, and let Caleb make the difference when the situation demands it.
Winning the Division Is a Different Bet
The NFC North features dangerous rivals in Detroit, Green Bay and Minnesota. Division games involve familiarity, physicality and tactical matchups that can make even a stronger team vulnerable.
Chicago already suffered a 31β7 loss at Green Bay without Caleb. That result remains a reminder of how quickly a division rivalry can turn against you.
Our preference is to evaluate the Bears’ conference and championship outlook separately from the division race. The division title depends on a long schedule and tiebreakers. The conference title requires surviving a shorter, high-pressure playoff bracket β which can favor a balanced team that gets hot at the right time.
How Strong Is Your Bear Down Case?
Adjust the five football fundamentals based on how you expect Chicago to perform the rest of the season. This creates a fan confidence score, not a statistically calibrated championship probability.

What Must Happen Before the Shuffle?
The Super Bowl Shuffle Is Back in the Conversation
Chicago fans have witnessed plenty of false starts over the years. This team feels different because it is not leaning on one star or one lucky bounce to succeed.
Caleb Williams has the arm talent to win a shootout. The offensive line and running backs provide another way to control a game. A defensive front featuring difference-makers can pressure even accomplished quarterbacks. And Ben Johnson has shown he can prepare Chicago for championship-level opponents.
Is this the scariest roster in the NFL? We think it deserves that conversation.
Is it guaranteed to win the Super Bowl? Absolutely not. At roughly 12% market-implied probability, even a team ranked among the favorites is far more likely to fall short than to win it all.
But the Bears have given us real reasons to believe a deep playoff run is possible. And after what Chicago showed in Seattle, a new version of the Super Bowl Shuffle no longer sounds like pure fantasy.
