Remembering Bo Jackson’s Best NFL Career Highlights

[Fanduel]

Some consider Bo Jackson the greatest athlete to ever live. The two-sport freak of nature was the only player to ever be named an All-Star in both football and baseball. These highlights display why.

The running back was a force for the Los Angeles Raiders, looking like a man among boys most times he carried the rock. He ended up with 5.4 yards per carry and just under 3,000 yards on the ground, but why was his career cut so short?

Drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at No. 1 overall in 1986 (after dominating football at the collegiate level with Auburn), Jackson decided to play baseball in the MLB instead. The Kansas City Royals had drafted him in the fourth round of the MLB draft you see, and the slugger began his career there.

After joining the Raiders one year later, Jackson carried out his dual-sport dream. Unfortunately, after just four seasons in the NFL, the running back suffered a serious dislocated hip injury that forced him into early retirement. He was able to carry on in the MLB up until the end of the 1994 season.

Watching these highlights, who knows what could have been if Jackson had been able to finish his prolific career at full health. He might have become one of the greatest football players of all time.
