Seahawks vs. Patriots: Trends, Props, Fantasy Plays & BuckBully Picks
Football is officially back.
And the NFL didn’t ease us into the season.
The defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks open at home against the New England Patriots in a rematch of Super Bowl LX, which Seattle won 29-13. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET at Lumen Field. (New England Patriots)
For BuckBully, opening night isn’t only about who wins.
We’re watching the betting market, player props, fantasy implications—and the players whose performances could start moving the football-card market.
Here’s what we’re watching.
🏆 THE REMATCH
Seattle enters opening night as roughly a 3 to 3.5-point home favorite, with the total sitting around 44.5 points in the latest markets we checked. (CBS Sports)
The matchup starts with two quarterbacks who took their teams all the way to February:
Drake Maye vs. Sam Darnold.
But this isn’t simply Super Bowl LX Part II. Rosters changed, roles changed, and Week 1 always brings uncertainty.
Seattle has the home-field advantage and championship banner.
New England has five months of thinking about that Super Bowl loss.
That’s a pretty good way to start a season.
🚑 BIG TREND: NEW ENGLAND’S BACKFIELD CHANGED
One of the biggest developments came before kickoff.
Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson is OUT with an ankle injury. Henderson led New England last season with 911 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns. (Reuters)
That puts Rhamondre Stevenson directly on the BuckBully radar.
Stevenson rushed for 603 yards last season but averaged 4.6 yards per carry. With Henderson unavailable, his opportunity should increase significantly. (Reuters)
But there’s a catch:
Seattle had one of the NFL’s better rushing defenses last season.
So we’re separating volume from efficiency.
Stevenson could get plenty of touches without necessarily producing a monster rushing total.
🎯 PLAYER PROP WATCH
Rather than blindly stacking overs, these are the prop angles that interest us.
Rhamondre Stevenson — workload: Henderson’s absence makes Stevenson one of the game’s most important players to watch. One current market had him at -110 to finish as the game’s leading rusher. (New York Post)
Sam Darnold — passing yards: One widely tracked line has Darnold around 228.5 passing yards, with an Over recommendation from CBS Sports’ analysis. (CBS Sports). On the contrary, we are leaning under because of first game jitters and high expectations after raising the championship banner.
Romeo Doubs — receptions: Doubs’ line has been around 3.5 catches. With A.J. Brown drawing plenty of defensive attention, secondary New England targets are worth monitoring. (CBS Sports)
AJ Barner — receiving: Barner’s receiving line has appeared around 24.5 yards. Seattle’s tight-end usage makes this an interesting lower-number prop rather than needing a huge offensive night. (CBS Sports)
And one important late development: Seattle receivers Tory Horton and safety Nick Emmanwori are inactive, while Ty Okada is also out. (Field Gulls)
That secondary situation is worth watching for Maye and New England’s passing attack.
🎰 THE BUCKBULLY PARLAY BOARD
If we’re building an entertainment-sized same-game parlay, I prefer connecting outcomes that tell a believable story rather than throwing together five random legs.
One aggressive opening-night concept:
- Seattle Moneyline
- Sam Darnold under 228.5 yards
- Rhamondre Stevenson 50+ rushing yards

The thesis is straightforward: Seattle wins at home, Darnold does enough through the air, and Henderson’s absence gives Stevenson enough volume to reach a modest alternate rushing number.
For something more conservative, I’d cut it to two legs rather than adding touchdown scorers just to inflate the payout.
Lines move quickly, so check the actual price before playing anything.
🧠 FANTASY FOOTBALL WATCH
Opening night could immediately answer some fantasy questions.
Rhamondre Stevenson 📈
The Henderson injury gives Stevenson an immediate opportunity boost. He’s a stronger Week 1 play than he was when New England’s backfield looked like a full committee.
Drake Maye 📈
Seattle is a difficult opening assignment, but Maye’s combination of passing and rushing gives him fantasy upside even when the matchup isn’t ideal.
A.J. Brown ⭐
New England’s new No. 1 receiver is the player I’d watch most closely in the Patriots passing game. The interesting question isn’t talent—it’s how quickly his target relationship with Maye develops.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba ⭐
Seattle’s passing game continues to run through JSN, and Horton’s absence further concentrates the available receiver snaps.
AJ Barner 👀
He’s more interesting in deeper leagues and as a potential early-season waiver target. If the targets are there tonight, fantasy managers should pay attention.
🃏 AND YES—THE CARD MARKET IS WATCHING
This is where football meets the other side of BuckBully.
A nationally televised opening game can put a player in front of millions of people.
A huge performance creates highlights.
Highlights create searches.
Searches can create hobby demand.
For collectors, Drake Maye is probably the biggest card-market name in this game.
A statement performance against the team that beat New England in the Super Bowl would be exactly the type of storyline that gets collectors talking.
But don’t chase a card tomorrow morning just because somebody scores three touchdowns tonight.
That’s usually when emotion is highest.
Watch:
Performance + Card scarcity + Rookie status + Autographs + Numbered parallels + Grading population + Price
The player can be great while the card you’re buying is still overpriced.
🐂 THE BUCKBULLY TAKE
Opening night gives us four markets in one:
Football. Betting. Fantasy. Collectibles.
And they’re more connected than they initially appear.
A breakout game can change fantasy waiver priorities, move next week’s betting lines and send collectors searching for a player’s rookie cards—all within hours.
Our game lean?
Seattle has the championship defense, home field and deserves to be favored—but New England’s passing game is interesting enough that laying more than a field goal isn’t automatic. That’s also reflected in the disagreement among current betting analysts: some are backing Seattle while others prefer New England with the points. (Pride Of Detroit)
The player we’re watching most closely?
Drake Maye.
The opportunity play?
Rhamondre Stevenson.
The collectible angle?
Don’t buy the highlight.
Buy the right card at the right price.
Football is back.
Watch the game. Watch the numbers. Watch the hobby.
Be Bullish On What You Value. 🐂
